Why the oxidation number of oxygen gas(O2)is 0?

An O2 molecule has oxygen bonded tooxygen. Since both the atoms have the same electronegativity values, the electron pairs aren't deviated towards any one of them, which is why both of them have zero oxidation number. In the O2 molecule the oxidation numberis zero.

Because of the same electronegativity they aren't electron paired each of them.... that is why the oxidation no. of O2 gas is 0.....
