The people of this nation have been indoctrinated with the idea that political leaders bear the utmost responsibility of giving them a better life/country. So they view the political leaders as messiah’s of emancipation of their struggles. Some view them as confidantes in propagation of their sectarian ideas which they believe will ultimately result in a better nation because their religion is the ideal one that this nation deserves.
Elections are an opportunity to continually strengthen their hope for a better life through such messiah’s. Elections are also an opportunity for the true sycophantic Indian to express his/her sycophancy by chanting slogans of success for their respective leaders and thus gain either their approval/acknowledgement or strengthening their identity of a nationalistic/patriotic Indian.
But through all of this, Indians though are unabashedly accepting of the of the true face of the selfish politicians and more importantly are gleefully ignorant of their responsibility of being law abiding, honest citizens.
Elections in India is a business in which political parties are the investors, election commission is the management but the ignorant citizens (who continue to fall for the traps to titillate the sectarian/religious emotions set by the politicians for their selfish gains) are the ultimate loss bearers !!
