Increasing of petrol in India
The Center currently levies a total of Rs. 19.48 per liter of excise duty on petrol and Rs. 15.33 per liter on diesel. In addition, the states also levy value added tax. Fuel is cheapest in Delhi among all metros and most state capitals due to lower sales tax or VAT of 27 per cent on petrol and 17.24 per cent on diesel.
