places near poles are very cold as they are located on the top n bottom of the earth and receive less amount of sunlight

DivyanshiGupta: the explanation will be the poles do not receive direct sunlight. the equator being situated at the centre receives the maximum amount of sun rays fro the sun thus it is very hot. as we know that our earth is inclined 23 and a half degree so the direct rays cant reach

The places near the poles are very cold because the Sun rays indirectly falls at the poles as the axis of the earth is tilted. The sun rays directly falls towards the equator hence equator is warm poles are cold.
