Because petroleum is an exhaustible resource. Because of the increasing population, The need of resources has rapidly increased. So petroleum is in huge demand and is getting slowly diminshed. In addition to  this, Petroleum is formed by fossil fuels which are being used by humans rapidly due to the increasing population. This is why the price of petrol increasing.
