Primary coil of step up transformer is made out of thick copper wire because -
- We know that, greater amount of electricity flows through the primary coil of a step up transformer, as compared with the secondary coil of that same step up transformer.
- Now, the greater thickness of the primary coil ensures the proper flow of greater amount of electricity without any kind of overheating.
- If we use thin wire in the primary coil, then greater amount of electricity will flow through the primary coil. As a result, there might be overheating in the primary coil.
