Why the process of digestion is faster inside the stomach than outside?

the digestive juices in stomach act on specific acidic pH which is maintained in the stomach by HCl.... hence the process of digestion is faster inside stomach

the food is churned in the stomach thereby by increasing the surface area for quicker enzyme action.
