The intermolecular space is more in liquids than in solids and so, it can diffuse faster.That is why rate of difussion in liquids is higher than that of solids.

The rate of diffusion as well as effusion is higher in fluids as compared to solids as in fluids there is more intermolecular spaces between them but in solids there is less intermolecular spaces between them hence the molecules are closely packed .
