★ HERE IS YOUR ANSWER ★

The rate of transpiration increases on a hot, windy day because wind causes faster movement of air and remove the moist air and faster evaporation of water and therefore higher rate of transpiration.

The rate of transpiration increases on a hot , windy day because of velocity of wind.

  • By disrupting the boundary layer, the still layer of water vapour hugging the surface of the leaves, wind can change rates of transpiration.
  • Because the channel for water to reach the atmosphere is shorter when the boundary layer is reduced by wind, the migration of water from the leaf surface increases.
  • With an increase in wind speed, more people will perspire.
  • The area outside the leaf does not become saturated with water vapour when the wind blows quicker because it removes the water vapour produced during transpiration more quickly.
  • Therefore, a windier day than a quiet day records a higher rate of transpiration.

Hence, the rate of transpiration increases on a hot , windy day.
