sun light doesn't fall more and more in poles regions........
there fore regions near poles get snow fall, ice cover, and 6months continuous daylight and darkness......

The regions near the north pole and south pole has 6 months of continuous daylight and darkness because they are away from the equator and less sunlight reaches there than the regions which are near the equator whereas the regions near the equator experience equal daylight and darkness.
