the revolt of 1857 is started because when the British army used Indian Army for war the Muslims and the Hindus work in the Indian Army in olden days the army used Rifles which are made with pig pig and cows fat. this leads to discontentment between the Hindus and British along with Muslims .and also at that time Jhansi Lakshmi Bai tried for freedom and made a movement for freedom .these are the basic reasons for revolt of 1857 India lost the war.
