They took part to gain maximum profits
In ww1 they gained large profits and had become powerful
They saw it as an opportunity to gain more profits
Removal of taxes
Reduction in import duties
Rupee sterling balance which would profit exports
But Gandhi ji called of the movement without any of these demands being fulfilled hence when they were disappointed and when it was re launched they did not show any interest
