Explanation:Red blood cells or Erythrocytes are biconcave because they do not contain NUCLEUS. They are a-nucleated. This provides the cell to attain large surface area to accomodate maximum space for haemoglobin. Efficient gas transport requires erythrocytes to pass through very narrow capillaries, and this constrains their size.
