Why The Shells are named as KLMN Why not ABCD Or Something else???

They are just names of the shells in consecutive order.The names of the electron shells comes from a fellow named Charles.G.Barkla,a spectroscopist who studied the X-Rays that are emitted by atoms when they are hit with high energy electrons.
