why the shoulder straps of school bags are broader​

Bags should be provided with broad straps because it decreases the pressure by increasing surface area which makes it easier to carry them. On the other hand, thin straps decrease surface area which results in more pressure and it becomes hard for us to carry them

Since pressure is force per area, as surface area is increased by making straps broader,the impact of force(weight of bag) i.e, pressure can be reduced
