Why the silver not used for making electric wires.

Answer:

The first reason is that it is expensive than normal conducting material like copper. The second reason is that  it oxidizes easily and tarnishes when it comes in contact with air. S o they are not used for making electric wires

Explanation:

Silver is a metal with the best resistivity. It allows the easiest flow of current. The only problem is that the metal is rare and costly metal due to which we cannot produce silver wires commercially. We use copper for this reason as it is cheap, a good conductor with good resistivity and can be made commercially.

Silver wires are used mostly in laboratories.
