Why the sky appears dark instead of blue to an astronaut.?

sagar10031: because there is no atmosphere
Arcee1012: Cuz there is no atmospheric particle to refect the light thus the sky appears to be dark
Madhavidhara: Because in earth we have atmosphere so we can see blue but in space we don't have atmosphere so we cannot see blue

The sky appears dark instead of blueto an astronaut because there is noatmosphere in the outer space that can scatter the sunlight. As the sunlight is not scattered, no scattered light reach the eyes of the astronautsand the sky appears black to them. and also

To observe the colour of sky ,scattering of light is important which is only possible due to presence of atmosphere , and in space there is no existence of atmosphere therefore scattering of light doesn't occur .So , to an astronaut sky appears dark instead of blue
