sky appears to be red in colour during sunrise and sunset because during sunrise and sunset the light had to travel long distance to the earth atmosphere from the sun and as red light has long wavelength so it scatters less and it is being seen as red .

Answer:

because the sun is low on the horizon, sunlight passes through more air at sunset and sunrise then during the day when the sun is higher in the sky more atmosphere means more molecules to scatter the violet and blue light away from your eyes ..

Explanation:

this is why sunsets are often yellow, orange and red
