when electric bell is switched on an electric current passes to the electromagnet and as when a conductor gets electric current it gets magnetised and so the iron strip gets attracted as iron strip is a magnetic material

good morning..
yours answer is here...
When you switch on the current through the circuit, due to the magnetic field formed by the current, the soft iron core (of the electromagnet) gets magnetised. Since iron gets attracted to a magnet, the electromagnet attracts it. The hammer fixed at the end of the iron strip thus hits the gong and a sound is produced.
hope it would helps you...
thanks
