This means that an increase in the osmotic potential of the guard cell leads to an initial decrease in the water potential. ... The inflow of water will cause the turgor pressure to rise and the guard cells to swell. The increase in volume of both guard cells causes opening of the stomatal pore.

•Stomata are tiny pores present on the surface of the leaves.
•The water evaporates through the stomata.
•Transpiration is mainly responsible for the loss of water that was absorbed by the plants.
Q.why the stomatal pores open when the guard cell is swelled?
A. ✴When water flows through the guard cells, cells become turgid(high water content).Their thin outer walls become convex and bulge out,so that inner walls are drawn out not causing the opening of stomata.
✴If guard cells loose water they become flaccid and their walls come to the original position causing closing of stomata.
