Explanation:

During sunrise and sunset the light from the sun near the horizon passes through thicker layer of air and travels larger distance in the earth's atmosphere. Before reaching the observers eye near horizon most of the blue light and other which have shorter wave lenght are scattered away by the particles of atmosphere. There fore the light of longer wave lenght reaches out eye. Like red or orange or yellow. This give rise to red colour

:-) The Sun appears red at sunrise and sunset because of least scattering of red light as it has the lowest wavelength. As per Rayleigh scattering, the amount of light scattered .
