The sun rays are never overhead at any point beyond the tropical zone.the word TROPIC means turning point.when the sun has reached its northernmost and southernmost most limits on June 21st (tropic of cancer) and 22 December (tropic of Capricorn) respectively,it appears to turn southward and northward.

Answer:

The sun is never overhead beyond the tropics due to the latitudes. The sun's rays always fall directly on 0° latitude which is known as the equator. The sun rays can be experienced overhead till the tropic of cancer and capricorn in the northern and southern hemispheres of the earth respectively.
