in case of fire if you want to control the fire you can have to control it from its sourcein similar if you want to have a better control over electricity you have to control IT form its sources

live wire in our house at any point of its have electricity potential of 220 volt

with respect to ground while the neutral wire is at zero potential for any appliance to work or any circuit to get complete we require the potential difference to be bridged which with wire are for control we have switch in this circuit.

Now coming to the question if we put your switch on a neutral wire there is the highest current getting completely as any break of neutral wire could easily get in contact of any other neutral terminal which could act as zero potential terminal and we are surrounded by many substance like utensils of metal water on the surface light completing the circuit if you are unlucky one you could get a part of the circuit .....
