why the thunder is heard few seconds after the lightening is seen?

This is because light travel faster than sound or speed of light is more faster than the speed of sound.

Because speed of light is much greater than speed of sound .
When lightning occurs the surrounding air expands because of it's heat and a noise is created . This noise is known as thunder.
