Why the use of polythene bags has been banned in many states?

Here is your answer_ the polythene bags has been banned in many state because the pollution is raising Day by Day and polythene is a non bidegradible that dosnot decompose easily in nature and when we burn it release a harmful gas

and it is also affecting our environment , so to reduce pollution is also a motive behind this ban of polythene bags .
