Why the wedding guest cannot move but hear? Whats the reason and qhy he dodnt able to escape from the mariner?

Ancient Mariner first held wedding guest by his skinny hands but once wedding guest told him to 'unhand' him , guest was held mesmerised by his glittering eye. He was transfixed on the Mariner's eyes and eventually became interested in his story.

The wedding guest was not at all interested in hearing to the mariner.But he was compelled to lend his ears to the mariners story.The glittering eyes of the mariner has cast a spell on him.Due to this the guest was unable to escape.
