why the West Bengal named "West" while it is in East

because once it was the part of bngladesh there it was situated in the west and when it joined the indiia it was found in east....

It was named when Bangladesh was united in West Bengal and at that time this area was known as Bengal and at that time current west bengal was it's west part and after division it's called West Bengal.
