trees more moisture , nutrients , and mainly temperature so that only grass and few seeds are growing in temperate grasslands.

Explanation:

Because of the climatic conditions there are few trees and more grasses in temperate grasslands. The grassland get few rainfall so it is difficult for the trees to stay there forever. They hardly can exist there. Grasses are there because it provides increased fertility to soil,they are dominant vegetation.
