there should be some air in the lungs even after forceful expiration BC if not, your lungs would collapse. the volume of air that remains even after forceful expiration is called residual volume

The air that is left after the air is exhaled is called residual air, as the lung can’t be empty after exhaling air back in the atmosphere as the pressure outside the lung will crush it and the tissues would collide and stick together.
