Why there is need of neutrons in an atom or why is the presence of neutron important when electrons and protons can neutralise an atom.​

Neutrons are electrically neutral, but contribute to the mass of a nucleus to nearly the same extent as the protons. Neutrons can explain the phenomenon of isotopes (same atomic number with different atomic mass.) The main role of neutrons is to reduce electrostatic repulsion inside the nucleus.

neutron is nutral sub atomic particles of atom which is present inside the nucleus of atom.(except hydrogen )

it carry no charge. it was discovered by james chadwick.

we known that protons are present inside the nucleus but proton is positive charge particals so it would we repulsion between the proton particles because same charge particles repel each. if it would happen the atom would not stable . so, neutrons are present to stop this repulsion.
