why there is no change in temperature during melting

becoz the heat supplied to melt is used to change the state of the substance so there is no change in the temperature

The heat is used to break the bonds between the ice molecules as they turn into liquid phase . Since the average kinetic energy of molecules do not change at the moment of melting, the temperature of the molecules doesn't change
