There is no change in the volume of water when water is dissolved in it because the molecules of water have spaces between them which are occupied by the molecules of sugar.

. water is the liquid which has numerous intermolecular spaces between it so when we dissolve sugar in water the molecules of sugar gets into these intermolecular spaces thus occupying it. so even if sugar is added to the water but the total volume does not increase.
hope this will help you
