Why there is no charge within the conductor even if the charges are static?

There are charges inside the conductor but the net charge inside the conductor is zero because its the property of the conductor to have electric field inside its vicinity to be zero as the electric potential is same everywhere inside the conductor. Hence, the extra charge given to the conductor will always reside on its surface.
