This question arises because of the existence of the title, Father of the Nation. Firstly, there was no Father of the Nation until Nehru announced Gandhi’s death as ‘ the Father of Nation is no more’ or that Netaji addressed Gandhi as the father of nation from Singapore as sources say.
And a Mother of a Nation should also not exist.
Is it possible ever to assign the efforts of only one single human to protect or help survive a whole country? S o, be it a mother or father, I strongly oppose the idea of identifying a whole country as a fruit of one individual’s work. While acclaiming the feats of an individual title should be assigned that refers to her/his struggles or achievements.
As for women, names of Rani Lakshmibai, Mother Teresa and others who endeavored in academic, political and various professions that were still untapped by women, comes up. All of them made up of courage compassion can be credited as a role model for any one. But still, not any one single women’s achievement is enough ever to make India synonymous with.
