This allows the aggregate data rate of a Gigabit Ethernet network to be doubled to 2-Gbs. With full-duplex, CSMA/CD access control mechanism need not be invoked as collisions are not possible.The primary aim of the CSMA/CD protocol is to ensure that all stations have fair access to the shared channel.
