Since Ladakh lies to the north of the great Himalayan ranges it comes under the rain shadow area of the south-west monsoons. The southwest monsoons reach the himalayam mountain and shed a lot of rainfall. Wen da winds cross over 2 Ladakh dey becomes almost dry hence no rainfall occurs.
