There is scanty vegetation in the deserts due to unfavourable climatic conditions for the flora world to grow. The desert either have extreme heat or extreme cold climate and receives low rainfall which is not suitable for vegetation to grow.

1) Extreme conditions causes high temperature during day and low temperature in nights

2) Very less rain fall results in very little amount of water for plants to survive upon

3) Ground water is present very deep inside the surface

4) This makes roots of average plants disable to suck water from under the surface

5) Only some special plants can grow here which have long roots and transpiration rate from their leaves is very slow. Eg- Cactus
