Silk fibre is derived from silk worm and therefore called as animal fibre.

Silk is made up of two proteins called as Sericine and Fibroin.

So when we burn silk, is actually we are burning the molecules of protein. Hence we get a smell of hair on burning silk.

Silk is an animal fibre. It is obtained from the cocoons of silk worm. Being an animal fibre and a part of silk worm's cocoon it gies the smell of burning hair
