why there is variation of sign in thermodynamics of physics and chemistry

Sign conventions are different because both the subjects focus on different concept in the process. Fundamentals of the process are same but due to difference in concept to be focused, they show variation in calculation.

In physics, we are concerned about the “output” while in chemistry we are concerned about “input”. Therefore, we calculate everything with respect to output in physics and input in chemistry.
