The Khilafat movement which was started from 1919 to 1922, its main purpose was to put pressure on the British to establish the Khalifa post of Turkish. Mahatma Gandhi played a key role in this Movement. This is why Gandhiji gave his support to the Khilafat movement and returned his Kaiser-e-Hind Medal to the British.

The Non-Cooperation Movement was a significant but short phase of the Indian independence movement from British rule. It was led by Mahatma Gandhi after the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and lasted from 1920 to February 1922. It aimed to resist British rule in India through non-violence .
