Why this commission is known as mandal commission

   Mandal Commission was set up on Jan 1 in year 1979 by then Prime Minister Late Sri Morarji Desai.  The commission was headed by then Member of Parliament Bhindeswari  Prasad Mandal from Bihar.

  The commission was named after its head.
