the divalent radical CH2-CH2 formed but when it is come in the presence of hydrogen iodide then in the ethylene the two hydrogen atom replaced by iodine because it is more reactive than hydrogen and itself attached to carbon atom.so it is name ethylidene by attaching to iodine atom.

Harsh8811: But what does Ethylidene actually denotes?.. can u explain?
priya653: due to presence of iodine.Ene denotes to hydrogen atom when this attached to hydrogen.
