Dear,

it is very simple,

if the given compund or element is donating the electron it will be positive as this is donating his/her electrons so there is scope of positiveness in it(easy way to memorise).

and if it is gaining kr capturing the electron it will br negative as it is is a debt.

this was the answer.

now lets memorise few thknhs as you wolll have to memorise them all life time.

Valency is not ion that it will gain positive or negative charge,.

positive charged are for ions.

Valency is always in numerical form withlut charges.

Also,

the above answer was for our ions that may be cation or anion depending on the manner of charge depositr and releasing.
