Why transformer is used in ac supply system circuit in instead of dc?

Explanation:

A transformer cannot be used with the direct current (D.C.) source because if the current in primary coil is constant then there will be no change in number of magnetic field line linked with secondary coil and hence no e.m.f will induced in the secondary coil.
