Evolution and Adaptation to the Environment

Evolution and Adaptation to the EnvironmentVariation allows some individuals within a population to adapt to the changing environment. Because natural selection acts directly only on phenotypes, more genetic variation within a population usually enables more phenotypic variation.

Answer:

variation are important for species..... rather than individual because if some individual organism evoluted...then......it effect only to that perticular individual and their surroundings but if species got variated or evoluted then it will effect to all the future generations of particular that species.... variation allows the species of different organisms to get developed according to to the environment. because natural selections act directly only on phenotypes, that's why more genetic variations would be found in our surroundings of different species.
