Why vegetables release water when salt is added​

When you add salt to vegetables, solute concentration outside gets higher than that of inside. So to maintain equillibrium with surroundings, plant cell releases water to equate the solute concentration on both sides of the cell wall. This condition is called________. On adding salt the concentration of water is lowered as compared to the concentration outside.Thus the water is released due to exomosis(water moves out of the cell resulting in shrinkage of the cell.
