The thick atmosphere of Venus makes its surface hotter as the heat doesn't escape back into space. VENUS IS EVEN HOTTER THAN MERCURY THOUGH IT IS RELATIVELY FARTHER AWAY FROM THE SUN. THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE HIGH PERCENTAGE OF CARBON DIOXIDE IN IT'S ATMOSPHERE. THIS GAS TRAPS MOST OF THE SUN'S HEAT FALLING ON IT.
