Answer:

The material and labor cost have been high in Kerala in nearby years. Price of fertilizers has increased manifold. The decline in farm price, in the absence of any north worthy increase in farm productivity, adversely affected the profitability of major crops of Kerala. Climate also seems to be a playing role.
