Why virus cannot be cultured in totally artificial medium?

Because the movement of intercellular particles in virus occurs only when they come in the contact of living cell .In nutshell we can say, virus are alive only when they affect living matter . Hence these can not be cultured in totally artificial medium since they require living matter.
