the viruses are not able to show features of life outside a living cell as when the viruses are out side a living cell, they act as a non living cell and so, they can't.

and whereas they enter the living cell, they act like a living cell and by this they are also called that intermediate organism between living and non-living cells

Virus lack membranes and so they don't show characteristics of life until they enter a living body as they use the living's cell machinery to multiply.
